The last several weeks have been turbulent for the world’s most famous self-described “free speech absolutist.”

In an astounding coincidence, just days after he publicly pushed for peace between Russia and Ukraine, the Biden Department of Justice announced its investigation into Musk’s acquisition of Twitter and his satellite-powered internet provider SpaceX. While the court filing never specified what Musk was under investigation for, it did (however predictably) cite “national security” concerns.

A recent article from Bloomberg claims that an obscure body under the Treasury Department known as the Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) could have grounds for getting involved. Treasury secretary Janet Yellen currently leads the agency, which reviews foreign investments in and acquisitions of American businesses to determine if they threaten national security.

So how would this committee pertain to Elon Musk? Essentially, the Biden administration may be trying to thwart further foreign investment into Twitter, such as the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Last week, Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed rolled over his existing $1.89 billion stake in the company, making the Saudi government the second-largest stakeholder in Twitter. The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) also committed $375 million to Musk’s acquisition of Twitter.

Of the $46.5 billion Musk spent to acquire Twitter, however, the majority of it ($33.5 billion) came from himself.

But it’s not just Twitter that the Biden administration is getting wrapped up with. Last month, the New York Postreported that the White House is also weighing a national security investigation into Starlink over Musk’s public support for a peace deal that gained him praise from the antiwar movement and scorn from the neoconservative establishment. The deal would have included direct elections in Ukrainian areas annexed by Russia and a commitment from Ukraine to remain neutral regarding future involvement with NATO.

Starlink has provided free internet to Ukraine throughout the war with Russia, yet Musk’s threats to cut off Ukrainian access to Starlink’s internet system seem to have irked officials at the White House, who have since initiated talks with Musk to expand Starlink access into Iran in an attempt to support the protest movement that began two months ago.

The timing of this scrutiny against Musk makes the picture abundantly clear: Because Musk wants to end the war in Ukraine, he is a threat. Because he is firing the regime’s agents in Twitter’s workforce, he is a threat. Because he is not willing to advance the U.S. government’s attempts to destroy peace and free speech around the world, he is a threat.

In all this, we see hints of a conflict between the world’s richest man and the world’s biggest government. How this rivalry ends will be a story for the history books.

Republican Don Bolduc has expanded his lead on Democrat Maggie Hassan in the New Hampshire Senate race.

Bolduc only started leading this race in the last few days, which has caught Democrats completely off guard.

Very few people thought this race would go this way, but it’s looking good for Bolduc.

Republicans Senate candidate Gen. Don Bolduc expanded his lead over Democrat Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) in New Hampshire, according to a Thursday Trafalgar Group poll.

Forty-seven percent support Bolduc, 45.7 percent back Hassan, and 3.2 percent are undecided. Libertarian Jeremy Kauffman has 4 percent.

Among Hispanics, Bolduc leads 70.2 – 17.7 percent over Hassan. Among black voters, Hassan only holds a 19.9-point lead (34.7 – 54.6 percent). Among white voters, Bolduc leads (46.9 – 46.4 percent).

The general also polled better than Hassan in every age demographic except 65 and older, likely because of her history as a former governor of the Granite State.

The survey sampled 2022 general election voters from October 30 through November 1, with a 2.9 percent margin of error. Respondents included 44 percent Democrat, 35 percent Republican, and 21 percent unaffiliated.

The poll comes after a Tuesday Saint Anselm survey revealed that showed Bolduc with a one-point lead over Hassan. The general has clawed his way into the one-point lead, a gain of 12 points in just six weeks after Hassan had an 11-point lead.

Winning this race would be huge for Republicans.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that once Elon Musk’s $44 billion transaction for the social network is completed, he will reportedly terminate approximately 75% of Twitter’s staff.

In October, Steve Bannon shared during his sit-down interview with OANN New York correspondent Caitlin Sinclair that he had been informed by reliable sources that Twitter had offered Elon Musk a price cut in exchange for his commitment to two conditions.

“Twitter came back and said, hey, we’ll actually knock a couple of billion dollars off the price if you commit to two things,” Bannon said.

First, Trump and other conservatives that were already banned should not be reinstated. Second, the same management team will continue to be employed.

“My understanding is that Elon Musk was not prepared to do either one and said, NO, the deal is a deal,” Bannon said.

According to the Washington Post, which cited unnamed sources and documents, the mega-billionaire has reportedly informed potential investors in the Twitter deal that he plans to lay off almost 75% of the company’s staff, which would amount to approximately 5,500 employees, in order to reduce the size of its workforce from 7,500 to just over 2,000.

In response to Musk’s plans to fire the bulk of the far-left workforce, the Twitter team released a list of demands for current and future leadership claiming that firing employees “will hurt Twitter’s ability to serve the public conversation.”

They are also worried Elon firing employees “will hurt Twitter’s ability to serve the public conversation.”

On Thursday, new details emerged indicating that Elon Musk is expected to cut 3,700 Twitter employees or over half of the company’s workforce, to reign in Twitter’s costs, according to the Verge.

The outlet reported:

Employees will receive an email by 9AM PST on November 4th confirming whether they have been laid off or not, according to the internal memo, which also states that employee badge access to Twitter’s offices will be shut off “temporarily.”

As Donald Trump inches closer to launching another presidential run after the midterm election, Justice Department officials have discussed whether a Trump candidacy would create the need for a special counsel to oversee two sprawling federal investigations related to the former president, sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.

The Justice Department is also staffing up its investigations with experienced prosecutors so it’s ready for any decisions after the midterms, including the potential unprecedented move of indicting a former president.

Indicting an active candidate for the White House would surely spark a political firestorm. And while no decision has been made about whether a special counsel might be needed in the future, DOJ officials have debated whether doing so could insulate the Justice Department from accusations that Joe Biden’s administration is targeting his chief political rival, people familiar with the matter tell CNN.

The Justice Department has brought in a brain trust for high-level advice on the Trump investigations, according to people familiar with the moves.

Top Justice officials have looked to an old guard of former Southern District of New York prosecutors, bringing into the investigations Kansas City-based federal prosecutor and national security expert David Raskin, as well as David Rody, a prosecutor-turned-defense lawyer who previously specialized in gang and conspiracy cases and has worked extensively with government cooperators.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, lodged an “immigration detainer” on 42-year-old Canadian national David DePape, DHS told CNBC.

Records show DePape entered the U.S. through the San Ysidro, California, point of entry on the southern border in 2008 as a temporary visitor, officials said.

The man accused of breaking into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s house and attacking her husband with a hammer could be deported from the U.S. after he is released from custody, the Department of Homeland Security said Thursday.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, lodged an “immigration detainer” on 42-year-old Canadian national David DePape, the DHS told CNBC in a statement.

The detainer requests that the San Francisco County Jail notify ICE before DePape is done serving time so that immigration officers can take custody of him. ICE places immigration detainers on arrested individuals who it believes it can deport under the Immigration and Nationality Act.

Records show DePape entered the U.S. through the San Ysidro, California, point of entry on the southern border in 2008 as a temporary visitor, classified as a B-2, officials said.

Colorado authorities are in the midst of investigating a mail-in ballot that contained a mysterious powdery white substance.

Local law enforcement agencies were called to the Adams County elections office after personnel discovered a ballot containing an unknown chemical.

As a response, local law enforcement agencies showed up in Hazmat suits to take the substance to a lab.

White powder – maybe flour – was discovered yesterday on a ballot in Thornton. The substance has been sent to a lab for testing and triggered an investigation by local police, deputies and the FBI.

Per the Colorado Sun, “Initial testing indicated the substance is not toxic, said Adams County Clerk Josh Zygielbaum, but it will take as many as five days before officials know for sure if the substance is benign.”

Colorado law enforcement agents did well to respond to the scene with caution because there have been in times past wear extremely deadly poison has been mailed to notable figures in an attempt to assassinate them.

The Biden gang gave $1 Billion to Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover.  Now Biden’s Treasury Department and USAID won’t say where the money went.

The government body tasked with monitoring U.S. reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan said in a recent report it encountered insurmountable barriers from Biden administration agencies in its attempts to hold them accountable for over $1 billion in aid.

The Treasury Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) refused to comply with transparency requests from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) “in any capacity,” while the State Department selectively released information regarding the $1.1 billion in aid sent since August 2021, according to SIGAR. That violates SIGAR’s congressional mandate and undermines the American people’s interests, the organization claimed in a quarterly report, released Wednesday.

“SIGAR, for the first time in its history, is unable this quarter to provide Congress and the American people with a full accounting of this U.S. government spending due to the noncooperation of several U.S. government agencies,” the report said. “USAID and State legal counsels’ claim that SIGAR’s jurisdiction does not include such matters is not only contrary to the law, but a gross deviation from over 14 years of precedent set by three prior Administrations.”

The $1.1 billion assistance in question comes from the State Department and USAID for “food and cash support, nutrition, healthcare, protection for women and children and agricultural inputs,” according to a Sept. 23 USAID statement.

Biden was wrong in the way he handled Afghanistan in giving the country back to the Taliban along with billions in weapons and arms.  The Biden gang considered this a success.

Project Veritas on Thursday released undercover video of a ‘Nevada Democratic Victory’ staffer bashing Hispanic voters.

Isaac Gudino, a field organizer for Nevada Democratic Victory, said he ran into “multiple” Hispanic Republicans and was shocked.

“They’re ‘muy machismo’ – Like hey I don’t like gay people and sh*t,” Gudino said.

He also corrected another field volunteer who said Republicans hate Latinos.

Gudino said Republicans primarily have a problem with Hispanics who come to the US illegally.

The field organizer said Republican party volunteers posted signs in Spanish: “OH NO…[Republicans] finally got smart enough to write their sh*t in Spanish!”

The Democrats are losing Hispanic voters which means they are bracing for big losses in Nevada.

Vivek Ramaswamy, co-founder and executive chairman of Strive, joined CNBC’s ‘Squawk Box’ on Thursday to discuss the path to turning Twitter into a free speech platform.

The hosts on CNBC completely lost it after Vivek did an excellent job arguing the points of free speech.

Vivek: I think the way you treat the misinformation point is different from the way you treat the category of hate speech. I think you can’t have hate speech in the category because all opinions are allowed.

Andrew Ross Sorkin: There are a lot of people who deny the election results of this last election, some of whom, by the way, looked like they may win next week. Do you think that there should be people correcting the record?

Vivek: I think there should be people correcting the record through free speech and open debate, not through silencing them and not through censorship…

Sorkin: How concerned are you with either democracy or the very idea that there are large parts of the population who believe things that are just factually untrue today?

Vivek: I am deeply concerned about threats to democracy, but I think those threats to democracy, Andrew, are plural. And one of those threats to democracy is the centralized determination of truth. By the way, and here’s the invention we haven’t talked about, where the government itself is now coordinating with Twitter, with Facebook, etc. to direct critics of the government to be silenced. This is something that I think is also a threat to democracy, where you have a government using private companies to censor.

After his interview, Vivek posted his thoughts on Twitter to further discuss the importance of free speech.

“The answer to bad speech is not less speech. It is more speech. That’s the American way. It should be the way forward for Twitter,” he wrote.

“I vehemently disagree with those who want to burn our flag, but I will defend to the end their right to do it. That’s what America itself.”
